Electrolysis Cost

APT produces hydrogen and syngas using low-cost feedstocks, significantly lowering CapEx and OpEx compared to any competing processes.

Today, the US produces approximately 10 million metric tons (Mt) of hydrogen per year with approximately 1% considered green hydrogen. Until now, the only method to produce green hydrogen has been through electrolysis, using electrolyzers with solar or wind energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.  However, electrolyzers are expensive and their efficiencies are limited by the laws of nature.

The biggest problem with electrolyzers is the use of electricity, which accounts for nearly 60 to 70% of the cost of Hydrogen production. Most electricity is made from the inefficient burning of fossil fuels to boil water, make steam, spin a turbine, which produces electricity. Other sources of energy, such as sun and wind, are intermittent. When the sun shines, solar panels convert sunshine into electricity. Wind turbines can produce electricity, but the wind is less predictable than the sun.

By using heat along with our own internally generated electricity as the power source for MSWH2 reactors, together with sustainable renewable municipal solid waste as our feedstock we cut out the middlemen which goes straight to our bottom line.

We are able to produce hydrogen for less than a $1.00 a kg. We are able to do this through no cost renewable feedstock.  We can actually get paid a “tipping fee” to take the waste therefore our feedstock cost is negative.  Combine that with the efficiencies of our patented system and bingo we are the lowest cost producer of hydrogen – not to mention green hydrogen.

Substantial construction and production tax credits are also available for hydrogen projects via the Inflation Reduction Act (H.R.5376). MSWH2 will be eligible for $3000/MT Green Hydrogen Production Tax Credits.  Based on the projection below we could get paid $216,000 a day in tax credits.

Capex

Our capex cost to build a plant compared to electrolysis plants is approximately 50% for the same sized kg production. Our plants are scalable and go cash flow positive in 37 months and the life expediency is over 20 years with a small amount of maintenance. For more information, please contact us.
